Moot Courts

A Moot Court is a sumulated trial in which law students act as representatives of fictitious parties in court to negotiate a case and thus attempt the work of an attorney. This competition offers the opportunity to students to test their qualifications. Moot-Courts of Criminal Law, fairy tales and every other implementation of legal issues is possible.

In addition, there is an german Moot Court Competition (EDMC). In various local groups hearings take place for the same case of civil law and the corresponding winning party can then compete for the Regional Round (North/South or East/West). The two winners of these Regional Rounds mayappear in the Federal Court in Karlsruhe and the Federal Court judges will choose the final winner.

Since the autumn semester 2002 there is also a ELSA Moot Court on international level. The ELSA Moot Court Competition (EMC2) is a project of ELSA-International, the content deals with WTO Law. After a written preliminary round the best teams from around the world meet in Geneva for several days to try to win there.
